About THE BCUWU

BRETT HARPER (he/him), PRESIDENT

Brett Harper is the newly elected President of the B.C. Union Workers Union (BCUWU)  that represents over 300 employees of unions in the province of British Columbia. He has served on the BCUWU Executive Committee for the past four years and has been a member since 2011.

His day job is that of a labour relations officer with the Professional Employees’ Association (PEA). Prior to being a labour relations officer Brett worked in Communications and Organizing. Brett has many years advocating and working with other organizations focused on social justice including four years on the Board of AIDS Vancouver Island.

Brett is based out of Victoria, and lives with his husband David in Esquimalt on the unceded and traditional territories of the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples and the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations.
